Lok Sabha election campaign intensified: Illicit liquor worth Rs 98.52 crore seized in Chamarajanagar
The Deputy Commissioner of Excise seized illicit liquor worth Rs 98.52 crore on Tuesday (April 2) at Nanjangud in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka.
As the Lok Sabha election campaign intensified, a team of excise officials raided United Breweries unit in Tandya industrial area of Nanjangudu Immavu village under Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency and seized liquor worth Rs 98.52 crore, says reports.
On the verbal orders given by the District Returning Officer on an anonymous phone call, a surprise raid was conducted and the physical inventory along with the records and account book of the unit was checked. It is said that the Joint Excise Commissioner of Mysore Division also participated in this operation.
A total of Rs 98.52 crore worth of liquor was seized on this occasion. A case has been registered against the Bravery unit.
